Volunteers make a difference!
Share & Care began 30 years ago with all volunteers!
The local community banded together to find ways to address several issues such as childcare and homelessness within the town.
Today we cover over 250,000 square kilometres of the Coastal, Wheatbelt and Upper Great Southern regions and with a budget from $3-5 million, we need paid employees AND volunteers!
How Can You Help?
MEALS ON WHEELS: Our Meals on wheels program has no room in the budget for full time paid staff to deliver meals on a permanent basis. We would love to see you join us, deliver a meal, check how the client is going with things, have a chat and enjoy time with those clients who don’t always have the opportunity or ability to get out into the social networks within the community on a frequent basis.
LONG DAY CARE CENTRE: Our Childcare Centre has the most amazing group of children! Twenty eight children from the very young to Kindergarten age. Some of whom don’t have grandparents or have grandparents that are living some distance away. If you have a passion for younger children and sharing your history and wisdoms, if you enjoy playing and story telling, call us, the children would love to see you join in the group activities.
ADMINISTRATION: You can contribute enormously in any program office by assisting us with administrative duties in a field you are interested in. Duties such as word processing, answering phones, assisting clients with basic enquiries and more will keep you challenged and interested.
What do you need to become a volunteer with us?
- A police check.
Our volunteer roles involve working with vulnerable groups in society, such as children or the aged. Therefore you will be asked to apply for a police check or working with children check. Police checks assess the suitability of an applicant for a volunteer role, sometimes for the reasons mentioned above, but also for other requirements. For example, some departments and organisations must carry out police checks on volunteers to satisfy funding requirements
or for insurance purposes.
- A completed application form. This you can download below - or you can obtain it from our Head Office by calling us
- An Interview. Here you will meet with the Chief Executive Officer to decide in which area you would like to work, how much time you would like to donate and any other items that will be necessary to the role
- Orientation. This is where we assign you a mentor to assist you at any time with your role as a volunteer. You will learn about the program, how it is funded, the client base and how you fit within that picture.
- Training. At Share & Care we believe in delivering the best possible service to our clients. You will be given the opportunity to join our team in training days, team meetings and other functions that will assist you in learning and delivering the service.
